Councillor Profiles - St Andrews Ward


Cllr David Annis was elected to Pershore Town Council in 2014 and re-elected in May 2015. Cllr Annis serves on the Planning Committee, Amenities and Environment Committee and Cemetery Committee and is the Council’s representative to Pershore Town Football Club.

Cllr Chris Parsons MBE was elected to Pershore Town Council in 1987 and is the longest serving member of the Council. During that time he has served as Mayor for 8 terms of office and currently sits on the Planning Committee as Vice Chairman and is Chair of the Cemetery Committee. Cllr Parsons is also the Town Council’s Emergency Planning Officer.

Cllr Robert Speight was co-opted to the Town Council in 2011 and re-elected in May 2015. Cllr Speight serves on the Finance and Property Committee, Planning Committee and Twinning and Tourism Committee. He is also the Town Council’s representative on the Citizens Advice Bureau.

Cllr Charles Tucker has been a town councillor since 1984 with a four year break from 1999 – 2003. He is also one of the three district councillors for Pershore. Cllr Tucker was Mayor from 2012 to 2014 and is Chairman of the Finance and Property Committee. He also sits on the Amenities and Environment Committee, and the Internal Monitoring Group.

Cllr Derrick Watt was elected to the Town Council in 2011 and re-elected in May 2015. He is currently the Vice Chairman of the Finance and Property Committee and Chair of the Planning Committee. Cllr Watt is also a member of the Internal Monitoring Group and the Town Council’s representative for the Pershore Volunteer Centre.

Cllr Matthew Winfield was elected to the Town Council in 2013 and re-elected in 2015. He is currently Vice Chair of the Amenities and Environment Committee and also serves on the Planning Committee and the Finance and Property Committee. Cllr Winfield is the Town Council’s representative on the Transition Towns group and a member of the Internal Monitoring Group.

Cllr Valerie Smith was co-opted to the Town Council in July 2015 to fill the vacancy left following the May elections. Cllr Smith serves on the Finance and Property Committee and Cemetery Committee. In her capacity as Deputy Mayor she is also a part of the Management Group.

Cllr Bob Gillmor was co-opted to the Town Council in 2011 and re-elected in May 2015. Cllr Gillmor is the current Mayor of Pershore, he is also Vice Chair of the Cemetery Committee and sits on all other committees. As Mayor, he sits on the Management Group.

Cllr Richard Grantham was co-opted to the Town Council in 2011 and re-elected in May 2015. He currently serves on the Planning Committee and Amenities and Environment Committee and is the Town Council’s representative on the Riverside Youth Centre.

Cllr Julian Palfrey has served on the Town Council from 1987 to 1999 and since 2007. He was re-elected in May 2015 and serves on the Amenities and Environment Committee and Cemetery Committee and is the Town Council’s representative on the Council for the Protection of Rural England. Cllr Palfrey is also the Council’s public transport representative.

Cllr Tony Rowley was elected to the Town Council in 2012 and re-elected in 2015. Cllr Rowley sits on Finance and Property, and the Twinning and Tourism committee. He is also a District Councillor for Pershore and is the Council’s representative to Pershore Town Football Club. Cllr Rowley is also a member of the Management Group in his capacity as outgoing Mayor.

Cllr Val Wood was elected to the Town Council in 2003 and re-elected in May 2015. During that time she served as Mayor for 2 terms of office. Cllr Wood is also a member of Wychavon District Council.
